Welcome to "The Click"

I have started this blog to coincide with the new directions in my photography. I began a serious interest in photography thirty years ago while I was stationed outside of London with the US Air Force. My photographic interests have been diverse over the years. My first SLR camera was an Olympus OM-1, a fully manual camera. I was told by a photographer friend to purchase this camera because "you will have to learn how to operate a camera to use it". Thinking back, I am so glad that I took this advice, mind you, there was not much else the "advanced" cameras of that day did. Auto focus and auto exposure were in their infancy. I loved my little OM-1, and happy to say I took loads of blurry photos (and a few decent ones). Cameras have come a long way since those days, but with all of the advancement in cameras, I continue to shoot in that "manual" mode. I shoot exclusively in manual, aperture, or shutter priority, and I rarely use autofocus. At the time I did not realize that the advice my friend had given me, had taught me how to control the camera to get the shot that I wanted, not what shot the camera wanted. I continued my Air Force career for 24 years. I have also managed to operate studios in England, Arizona, Panama City Beach, Florida, and Chicago, Illinois. The diversity in my photography has included wildlife, portraiture, glamour, boudoir, wedding, nature, and children. I am presently concentrating on wedding and family portraiture. I encourage you to check out Randy Hargett Photography. I will soon be offering some new and exciting specials available only through this journal. Check back often.
